What to pack for a 7 day sailing trip in Croatia
Photo taken by me in Dubrovnik - yes the water really was this clear (no filter here)

In May I booked on a 7 day Croatia Island hopper cruise with Busabout and it was epic!

I spent a lot of time sailing, eating great food and exploring the gorgeous islands Croatia had to offer.
I tried to research what to pack and find some packing inspiration as I only had carry on luggage for my trip!

Having limited luggage was a bit tricky because you have to factor in so many elements of your trip:

  • Spending time on the boat - sunbathing, lounging, boat dinners and parties.
  • Exploring the islands and walking around - proper footwear and protection from the sun.
  • Dinners on the islands and enjoying the nightlife - be realistic with what you wear, most islands are religious and don't like too much skin on show. Also, the streets are cobbled so alcohol plus high heels and the cobbled streets...you get what I mean.

Plus going in May was a risk, as it was still early season so I had to plan for the odd cold day, just in case!

I'm going to share with you what I should have packed (because I definitely overpacked) and also add in things I wish I had packed before going!

Clothing
2 bikinis
1 swimsuit (that could double as a top when worn with bottoms of your choice!)
2 playsuits/rompers (double up as cover ups on beach as well as night time outfit)
2 towels (one that dries quickly for showers/sunbathing on deck and one for the beach)
2 bottoms (shorts/skirts)
2 dresses (one maxi and one shorter maybe - exploring towns/cover up/dinner/nights out)
1 pair of leggings (I flew in these as bulkier item)
1 light hoody or checked shirt (I flew in this as more bulkier)
2 t-shirts/tops
1 pair of sandals
1 pair of converse or walking sandals (anything supportive and keep feet cool. We walked a lot more than expected!)
1 pair of flip-flops

Extras to pack/consider:

  • Hats (I took a straw hat and a cap. Definitely needed)
  • Only pack essential toiletries prior to security. After security you can buy whatever you need. (Don't go over 100ml if you plan on bringing it back though!)
  • Minimal makeup should you want to take some (I packed a BB cream with an SPF, eyebrow pencil and waterproof mascara)
  • Elastic hair ties (my hair mostly stayed in plaits and away from my face - it was HOT)
  • A bag for the beach/backpack and smaller bag for evenings
